The Hyrbid Pre-Roll Report

When it comes to the top-selling pre-rolls, there are two very clear winners: infused pre-rolls and hybrid pre-rolls.

Infused pre-rolls, with their higher price point, lead the revenue charts, but when we look at what type of pre-roll moves more units, there has always been one clear king: the hybrid pre-roll.

Though not as flashy and expensive as its infused cousin, the hybrid pre-roll – packed with a single genetic hybrid strain that's effects split the difference between the energetic focus of a sativa and the couch-locking relaxation of an indica – is a sales powerhouse, consistently moving more product at a lower price point and quietly powering the entire sector.

The hybrid pre-roll is a key component to launching or scaling a successful pre-roll line, so let's take a look at the numbers and the data for the hybrid pre-roll segment and see exactly what makes the hybrid pre-roll a top seller.

Hybrid Pre-Rolls by the Numbers

The hybrid pre-roll consistently ranks first in units sold and second in revenue, according to point-of-sale data collected by cannabis analytics firm Headset.

In 2025, hybrid pre-rolls generated $1.29 billion in revenue on an astounding 170.7 million units sold. That's a 36.4% market share and a massive 44.5% of all pre-rolls sold. That's a growth rate of 11.76% in units sold, and though its growth is not as steep as some other categories, that still caps five consecutive years of growth for the hybrid segment in both metrics.

One of the reasons hybrid pre-rolls sell so many units is the average unit price, which sits at $7.54, the second-lowest average segment price (a; $7.24). But, of course, average price does not tell the full story because products generally bought as multi-packs may have a higher average unit price due to larger packages.

When we equalize the cost to a per-gram level, hybrids have an equalized price of $4.83 per gram and an average equalized cost of $2.48 per gram.

How are Hybrid Pre-Rolls Sold?

Like the category itself, the 1-gram size is the most popular packaging size for hybrid pre-roll products. The 1-gram format alone pulled in about $667.4 million on sales of 135 million units at an average price of $4.94, or about 51.7% of revenues and 79.1% of unit sales for the segment.

That is followed by the 3.5-gram hybrid pre-roll multi-pack, which generated $117.3 million on sales of 4.4 million units at an average price of $26.63, and the 2.5-gram hybrid multi-pack, which sold 4.5 million units at an average price of $23.59 for total revenues of $107.1 million.

Hybrid Pre-Roll Multi-Pack Sales

While it's a little tougher to get a full look at the single versus multi-pack balance through the available data, there is still an overwhelming preference for hybrid pre-roll multi-packs over single-serve pre-roll packaging.

The House Brand (house brands are pre-rolls produced and sold by vertical cannabis companies that sell them in their own stores under their brand name and is not a single product) 1-gram pre-roll remains, by far, the No. 1 seller in the segment, generating $14.4 million in total revenue on sales of 3.3 million units in 2025, more than three times the revenue generated by the No. 2 product.

In fact, the 1-gram House Brand hybrid pre-roll is the single best-selling product in the entire pre-roll category and is up 29.8% year-over-year in revenue and 55.4% YoY in unit sales. It is unknown how many of those are single-serving and how many are the very popular 1-gram 2-pack of 84mm half-gram pre-rolls.

However, the remainder of the top 20 pre-roll products and 41 of the top 50 are all multi-packs. Of those 41, 12 are 5-packs, with the majority of those being 1.75-gram packs, or 5-packs of mini, 0.35-gam pre-rolls, popularized by the Dogwalkers brand.

Looking purely at package size, the 1-gram size easily dominates, moving more than 135 million units for $667.4 million in revenue. More than 2,100 brands have a 1-gram product. In fact, there are nearly 31,000 1-gram products (out of a total of 57, 951 hybrid products), or 51.7% of sales and 79.1% of units.

The 3.5-gram pack lands second in revenue, generating $117 million on sales of 4.4 million units, followed by the 2.5-gram pack ($107 million; 4.5 million units). Interestingly enough, the package size that sells the second-most number of units sold is 0.5-gram size, moving 5.1 million units, but only generating $24.2 million, or 12th in revenue.

Top Hybrid Pre-Roll Brands

As noted, the "House Brand" hybrid pre-roll is the top selling brand in the segment, though in reality that is not a single brand, but an aggregate of all the house-branded hybrid pre-roll products.

However, the top selling actual brand in the hybrid pre-roll segment is by far Dogwalkers, which holds 3 of the top 10 spots on the top-selling products chart and generated $43 million on sales of 2.2 million units.

Dogwalkers is followed by (the) Essence at $15.1 million in sales and 1.2 million units sold. Coming in third is Find., moving 1.7 million units for $15 million in revenue. Ruby Farms ($14.4 million; 214,000 units) and Ozone ($14 million; 637,000 units).

What is interesting is that each of the top three brands lost revenue YoY, while Ruby Farms (+74.3%) and Ozone (+25%) were each up considerably over 2025's sales numbers. The biggest mover in the segment is Garden Greens, currently sitting in ninth among brands, but up 152.7% over 2025. They are followed by CannaBiotix at 10th, but with growth of 144.1% over the previous year.

Final Thoughts on Hybrid Pre-Rolls

The single strain hybrid pre-roll is by far the best-selling pre-roll segment in the industry. It ranks second in revenue because of a lower price point, but it absolutely dominates in units sold.

Because of this, it is a must-have for any and every pre-roll brand and the cornerstone of any solid pre-roll catalog. It is not as flashy or high-priced as an infused product, but does not need to be as it is clearly a favorite among pre-roll smokers.

And because of the sheer numbers of hybrid pre-rolls being passed around, it is highly recommended to customize your pre-roll's filter tips to help them stand out and get the recognition from smokers that they deserve, either through designer filter tips that are clearly labeled "hybrid" or even full custom branded filter tips by adding a 4-color logo or message to the filter itself, a custom die cut cigar band or a custom over wrap with spot UV or foil, or a combination of everything.
