How to Clean the Industrial Cannabis Grinder
Posted by Custom Cones USA on Jun 25th 2025
We all know that when it comes to producing the kind of consistent, high-quality pre-rolls that keep consumers coming back again and again, it all starts with the grind.
And the key to keeping your grind consistently high quality is to not only choose the best grinder on the market, the Industrial Cannabis Grinder, but maintaining it so it stays in peak working condition.
So let’s talk about how to clean your Industrial Cannabis Grinder so that it keeps churning out pound after pound of perfectly ground flower for your pre-rolls.
First, you’re going to need to gather a handful of supplies:
- A 9/64” hex head tool;
- Cleaning and scrubbing brushes;
- some isopropyl alcohol; and
- a hand towel.
Once you’ve got those tools in hand, it’s time to actually begin cleaning your grinder.
Step-by-Step Guide to Cleaning the Industrial Cannabis Grinder
First, use the hand screw to remove the upper tray where the cannabis is fed into the grinder. This is located right at the front and has a black grip. Just lift off the tray and set it to the side.
Next, remove the grinder housing from the motor using the large black hand screws along the side and pull it off. This exposes the grinder blade, which you can now gently slide out from the grinder chuck.
To remove the grinder screen, use your 9/64” hex head tool to unscrew and remove the grinder screen.
Once you’ve taken apart the pieces, use your cleaning brush to remove any loose or remaining cannabis from all parts of the grinder, including the blade, the screen and the housing. Now remove the bearing cap and brush it off as well.
Pre-Roll Expert Pro-Tip:
Though the industrial cannabis grinder is designed to minimize heat, the buildup on your grinder blade is caused in part by the breaking and heating of trichomes in your flower, where the cannabinoids and terpenes are housed. By freezing your grinder blade prior to use, you can minimize build-up on the blade, ensuring that your grind is as potent and flavorful as possible.

After all the grinder pieces have been cleaned of loose cannabis, fill a small tub or large sink with warm water and dish soap and place the blade, screen, tray and housing in the water to soak for a few minutes to get rid of any remaining material that may be stuck to the outside. Give them all a good swish in the water before rinsing.
However, and this is important, do NOT wash the bearing cap with water. Getting the bearing cap wet could damage it. Instead, give it a thorough spray-off with an air duster to make sure it is clean.
Now, soak your hand towel with a little isopropyl alcohol. We recommend using the highest percentage you can get for this. Give each of the metal pieces, including the bearing cap, a wipe down with the iso cloth. This will help remove all of the oils and resin missed by the soap.
And while you have the cloth out, give the exterior of the motor a wipe down with the alcohol as well. Basically, any part that is made with metal should get a wipe with isopropyl alcohol.

Reassembling your Industrial Cannabis Grinder
Now that everything is nice and clean, you can start reassembling your grinder.
First, use your 9/64” hex tool to replace the grinder screen and then screw the bearing cap back into place. Then, reattach the grinder blade, slide the grinder chuck over it and use the hand screws to tighten it in place.
Finally, place the tray back on top and screw it back in place with the small hand screw on the front.
