November isn’t just the month of Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving, it’s also home to the second and third highest sales days for cannabis retailers – with 4/20 being the top sales day in the industry.
According to data from Akerna (via gpnmag), the second and third highest cannabis retail sales occurred in 2021, on “Black Friday” and “Green Wednesday,” respectively.

November 6th: Legalization Day
Set to recognize the momentous legalization of recreational cannabis in Colorado and Washington on November 6th, 2012 (via Reuters), this day recognizes how far the legalization process has come. Hopefully, consumers will choose to observe this lesser-known holiday by exercising their right to purchase recreational cannabis in a legal state— why not encourage them to celebrate with these 420 Leaf pre-rolled cones? November 11th: Veteran’s Day

Many Veterans are involved in the cannabis industry as well, in part due to the medical benefits of cannabis for pain and PTSD. Veteran’s Day promotions that support the farms and charities that are veteran-backed would be perfect to position around the weeks leading up to November 11, as well as discounts for veterans on products. Some cannabis companies run by veterans include Ananda Farms (which sees 10% of proceeds going to the nonprofit Veteran’s Ananda) and Helmand Valley Growing Company (HVGC), which is on a mission to put an end to the opioid and suicide epidemic plaguing US veterans. November 23rd: Green Wednesday
The day before Thanksgiving, Green Wednesday has become a huge stock-up holiday for consumers looking to prep their appetites (or their nerves) before the big family meal. If 2021’s sales figures are any indication, retailers should prepare for demand not far behind what they saw for April 20, 2022.
